After a suburban start bypassing Epsom to the west (R out of Ewell West over bridge then L on Longmead Rd 0.3 on cycle path), join Meadway 1.5 then R West Hill and onto Epsom Common 1.8 for a fine winding track to 2.4 Wells Road. Spoke 5 link joins 2 from NW until the racecourse 4.7.
Cross A24 2.8 and bear R on bridleway then L on Woodcote Side 3. (NB: If your intention is a long ride on Arc 7 there is a legitimate on-road short cut - The Epsom Bikepass - to Headley via R Whitehatch Lane to Walton Rd, rejoining 6.6). You will miss an enjoyable and quite challenging heath and downland ride, climbing Chalk Lane 3.6, taking the overpass 4.5 straight onto Epsom Racecourse at the Grandstand.
Take the track down and up across dell. join NCN22 5.3, but offroad conditions at Sheep Walk 6 can be treacherous - the hazard being either unconsolidated dusty surface or a gooey quagmire depending on the season. The warning holds good throughout the Downs in isolated sections; these bridleways are true to their name and primarily designed for equestrian use. L on Walton Rd 6.6, down to Arc 7 on Hurst Rd.
