A late addition to the system, and unjustly neglected as Horton Country Park– the site of the Epsom Cluster of psychiatric hospitals – and Epsom Common make for excellent offroad family friendly cycling.
A suburban zig zag to start with; L from Chessington North, immediately R Marston Ave, L Compton Cresc, R Church Lane, sharp L Stokesby Rd to roundabout; 2nd exit Fitby Rd, and at Rollesby Rd 0.7 under pylon R into Castle Hill LNR (short walk), which leads to Horton Country Park.
Follow signs for Horton Lane. At 2.3 continue straight SW for Spoke 5 link var (a tough off-road Roman Road alternative route to Box Hill); then at Christ Church Rd roundabout 2.6 cross into Epsom Common, following the road to Christ Church and at 2.9 merge with Spoke 5W until Epsom Racecourse at the Grandstand 5.6. Climb beside the final furlongs to Tattenham Corner and Spoke 5E. Take in the tremendous panoramic view from the Mound just beside the station.
