Description

The second ride from the Metropolitan/Chilterns line has to use busy A404 briefly 1 - 1.1 (care with R turn) but soon passes through lovely Chenies village and Manor 1.5, turning R 1.7 on a steep and rough surfaced abandoned road: care needed on descent to reach a ford 2.4 across the Chess. Here you may catch sight of a kingfisher, but sadly (2020) Tyler’s Cress farm is closed; it was a treat to use the honesty box and buy a delicious bunch of cress here. At 2.7 Sarratt Bottom climb up to Sarratt (turn R Dawes Lane 3.5 to detour through the village itself). At Belsize 4.1 meet Spoke 10W then R 4.3 on Olleberrie/Holly Hedges Lane - one of those lanes so bosky as to feel like an off-road ride in its central section.
