Description

Shared path – care and courtesy. This is a classic off-road ride beside the Thames, but the opening miles can be very busy with walkers on a sunny Sunday. The family friendly section is the Thames Path from Hampton Court to Weybridge.

From Hampton Court take in the view of Hampton Court Palace before setting out on the towpath (Thames Path), and several miles of riverside views and activity. If you intend to transfer from Right Bank to Left Bank Spoke 6-7 you have three options: the foot ferry at Hampton; the new bridge at Walton - or take NCN4 advice and ring the bell for the Shepperton Ferry.

Transferring from Thames to Wey Navigation is the only tricky section: R Portmore Park Road 6.4, R and L following signs to Addlestone (leaving NCN4) crossing bridge 7.4 onto Wey Navigation (NT).

The towpath has a variable surface, but it’s a charming ride, and culminates in a transport multi-junction 9.3: M25, the Waterloo main line, river and canal all converge on one spot. The options are: L Wey Navigation for Ripley and Arc 8a which joins the towpath at Dodds Lane Bridge.: R Basingstoke canal to West Byfleet and on for Woking and Arc 8b
