Starting at Knockholt Church on Arc 5 high descend steep Sundridge Hill, joining 1.1 Arc 5 low, but continuing straight on 1.8 off-road to Sundridge. After crossing A25 2.5 it’s a steady climb to Ide Hill 4.8. At 4.6 R at trackway up to - and through - lovely Emmetts Gardens NT, which is now adopted as Ide Hill to Oxted Link, continuing to Chartwell and Oxted with its fast service to East Croydon.
The route then turns east following the Greensand ridge, with some brief but big switchbacks up and down, to Bayley’s Hill 7.1. If your destination is Knowle and Spinoff 5 northwards, continue on Gracious Lane to the summit of Hubbard’s Hill; otherwise at Bayley's Hill, double back R and down, zigzag L 7.3 very steep descent with speed bumps on an initially metalled Wickhurst Road bridleway* to Sevenoaks Weald 8.6 (* alternatively, especially on descent, use the longer but smoother option of public roads – Bayley’s Hill, Bowzell and Long Barn Roads).
