Description

This is a short but lovely section; Hertfordshire branch line Cole Green Way runs between rivers Mimram and Lea, starting with a mile ride through an old landfill site, now landscaped. The whole route is family friendly.

Once under the A414 the old branch line descends gently to Hertford through attractive farmland (R to take the road for Bayford 3.1 and Spoke 1N var to Crew’s Hill) at which point it is newly (recce in November '21) resurfaced with asphalt, until it crosses under the Moorgate-Hertford North line’s viaduct, joins with Spoke 1N at Horns Road, passing scenically into Hertford’s charming town centre – if you ignore the busy bisecting A414, which you must cross to enter the Castle grounds, the start point for Cycle Orbital.
