November 2022: THIS SPOKE IS CURRENTLY REROUTED AS CYCLING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED from Blacknest Gate to the Virginia Water Centre. The path around the lake may be widened to permit cycling once more: worth lobbying for!
For now stay on the A329 200m short of Blacknest Gate (Arc 9 takes the road through the gate north via the Guards' polo pitch to Cumberland Gate - prime cycling conditions). After a mile L on the A30 briefly to the Virginia Water Centre 1.7. This path is often very busy with walkers, dogs, families, joggers – care and courtesy! After leaving the lakeside a gentle climb past Totem 2.2 brings you to The Savill Garden 2.9. Thereafter the crowds disperse and the rest of the park is magnificent cycling, merging with Arc 9 Cumberland Gate 3.6 then parting 3.8. The spoke continues N to merge with Spoke 7a near Bishops Gate.
