When on Spoke 5 var Stane Street this route starts at the byway crossroads 4 S of Crampshaw Lane Ashtead. R for an off-road descent, crossing M25 5 and then A24 (with care); L at roundabout to Leatherhead town centre 5.7; L and soon pick up a roadside cycle track beside the A24 trunk road 6.1. This dates from 1938, and one of the best examples of the early protected cycleways of 1934-40, even though it is not as wide or well-maintained now. At 7.7 either cross A24 L for Mickleham village, up and over to be reunited with Stane Street var and Arc 7 at Juniper Hall, just before the turn L for the Box Hill Zigzag, or continue on the cycleway direct to Arc 7 at Westhumble St 9.2 for Boxhill and West Humble and shortly Denbies vineyard where Arc 7 and Spin-off 7 part company.
